BACKEND ENGINEERING MANAGER

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineering Manager with 10-14 years of experience to lead our client’s backend development team and drive the successful delivery of scalable and efficient backend systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, leadership experience, and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions. This role combines people management with hands-on technical expertise, focusing on optimizing backend performance and ensuring alignment with business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage the backend engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to engineers.
• Oversee the design, development, and deployment of backend systems, APIs, and services.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize backend development efforts.
• Ensure code quality, security, and best practices through rigorous code reviews and testing protocols.
• Drive the adoption of new technologies and architectures to improve scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Manage the release process, ensuring timely delivery of new features and updates.
• Troubleshoot complex backend issues and guide the team in resolving critical incidents efficiently.
• Develop and monitor performance metrics for system optimization and scalability.

REQUIREMENTS

• 10-14 years of experience in backend development, with at least 5-7 years in a managerial or technical leadership role.
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Node.js, Python, Java, Ruby, or Go.
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience with databases (both relational and NoSQL), such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems like Git, and infrastructure as code tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on optimizing system performance and ensuring uptime.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
